How to Use Wordpress Plugins

A plugin is a software component or module that adds specific functionality to an existing large application. For example, Wordpress has a huge array of plug-ins that enhances the features and services to wordpress and can be added to the website with ease. These plugins work perfectly with your website and can add advanced functionalities to the websites. To install the WordPress Plugin manually:

  1. Download the latest version of the WordPress Plugin.

  2. In your WordPress Administration Panels, click on Plugins from the menu at the top.

  3. Type the name of plug-in you intend to install; it gives bunch of listed plug-ins.

  4. You should see your new Plug-in in the list now click on install link. If not, with your FTP program, check the folder to see if it is installed. If it isn’t, upload the file(s) again. If it is, delete the files and upload them again.

  5. Then click on the Install Now button against the plug-in. Once you click that button, the plug-in will be installed.

  6. To turn the WordPress Plugin on, click Activate plug-in. You would have to customize the configuration settings.

  7. Check your Administration Panels or WordPress blog design to see if the Plugin is working.

If the desired plug-in is not in the WordPress Plug-in directory then follow these steps.


1. First download a plug-in from the source (zip file).


2. Visit your WordPress admin panel.


3. Click on Plug-in » Add New.


4. Then click on the Upload Tab.


5. Browse the file and upload it (zip files only).


6. You will be directed to activate a plug-in page.


7. After clicking on activate the plug-in, you will finally install the plug-in but make sure you have customized the configuration settings.

WordPress Plugins are composed of php scripts that enhance the functionality of WordPress. Php scripts add new additions to your WordPress blog design that either enhances already available features or add unavailable new features to your website. WordPress Plugins can provide services across the entire Wordpress blog design network. Some plugins require adding or changing the default information, they set few options about where the plugins content is to be shown on wordpress blog design or providing options for user to choose which option you will like to enable.
